The Mitchell Mustangs lost against the River Ridge Royal Knights back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Mitchell took a hard 58-41 fall against River Ridge. While losing is never fun, Mitchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while River Ridge is ranked 37th).
When it comes to explaining why Mitchell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Priya Jacob. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Jacob hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 14 straight games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Lee, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Greene, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for River Ridge, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Mitchell will take on Seven Rivers Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for River Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Fivay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fivay will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
