Bishop Grimes is 4-0 against Marcellus since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bishop Grimes Cobras are on the road again and plays the Marcellus Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on February 13th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Bishop Grimes came up short against Bishop Ludden and fell 72-64. While losing is never fun, Bishop Grimes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Bishop Ludden is ranked 33rd).
Meanwhile, Marcellus entered their tilt with Skaneateles with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Marcellus took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 73-31 victory over Skaneateles. Marcellus has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.
Marcellus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Codey Kociela out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kociela has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Burnett, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Bishop Grimes' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Marcellus, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
Bishop Grimes was able to grind out a solid victory over Marcellus in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 69-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Grimes since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
