The University City Centurions lost to the Hoover Cardinals back in February of 2022, but the University City Centurions didn't allow the Hoover Cardinals the same satisfaction on Friday. University City had just enough and edged Hoover out 54-51. The win made it back-to-back wins for University City.
University City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Griffin, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Luca Anzaldua bertholdo, who scored 14 points.
Hoover lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Exavier Williams, who scored 15 points along with six steals. The game was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Hassan Anglo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.
University City's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University City will take on Scripps Ranch at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Scripps Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully University City likes a good challenge. As for Hoover, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m.
