The Rains Wildcats came tearing into Friday's contest with 18 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Commerce 54-39. Given Rains' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Tigers are ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rains had a senior duo take command as Haley Robertson scored 23 points along with four steals and Jasey Campbell scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season.
Rains pushed their record up to 30-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Commerce, their loss dropped their record down to 26-8.
Rains will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Commerce does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
