Nolensville is 9-1 against Summit since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Knights will take on the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Nolensville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Nolensville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Tennessee's top teams: Brentwood, who was ranked ninth at the time (Nolensville was ranked fifth). The Knights came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday.
Addi Leichty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Vieira, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Anna Dotson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Summit made sure to put some runs up on the board against Franklin on Tuesday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Admirals. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Summit got a massive performance out of Paityn Robertson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Audrey Cathey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Nolensville's record now sits at 16-3. As for Summit, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Nolensville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Summit struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Nolensville skirted past Summit 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
