On Friday, the West Orange Mountaineers faced the Bayonne Bees in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Orange came out on top against Bayonne by a score of 35-27. The win was familiar territory for West Orange who now have three in a row.
Anaya Karriem continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Karriem is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rhyan Watt, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
West Orange has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Bayonne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Orange won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Columbia at 10:00 a.m. on January 27th. Columbia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while West Orange is ranked 16th). As for Bayonne, they will be playing at home against St. Dominic Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
