Seguin is 0-10 against the Chargers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Seguin Matadors will head out on the road to take on the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 6:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Seguin lost to the Cougars at home by a decisive 52-33 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Seguin in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Seguin had strong showings from Desiree Zuniga, who scored 13 points, and Britlyn Walls, who scored nine points. Zuniga is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Karina Lerma was another key contributor, scoring three points.
Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smithson Valley. While losing is never fun, Boerne-Champion can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Rangers are ranked 336th).
Seguin dropped their record down to 9-25 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.6 points per game. As for Boerne-Champion, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-23 record this season.
Seguin lost to the Chargers on the road by a decisive 64-45 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Seguin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
