On Saturday, the Buffalo Bison faced the Pinedale Wranglers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Buffalo slipped by Pinedale 51-50. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Buffalo has scored all year.
Buffalo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Finkle, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isobell Kerckaert, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Pinedale still got an impressive performance from Elyn Bowers, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The game was Bowers' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Rogers, who scored ten points.
Pinedale struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory (which was Buffalo's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. As for Pinedale, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Buffalo is on the road again on Friday and play against Douglas at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Douglas is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Pinedale and Hot Springs County will face off at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hot Springs County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
