Shadow Ridge has gone 7-2 against Green Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mustangs will welcome the Gators at 3:30 p.m. Shadow Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Shadow Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked 19th at the time (Shadow Ridge was ranked fifth). The Mustangs came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 7-4 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Shadow Ridge got a big performance out of Giselle Castellanos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Castellanos has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Blosser, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Shadow Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Green Valley made easy work of Virgin Valley on Tuesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. Considering the Gators have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Mor Hernandez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lauryn Galvin was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Lyla Baxter was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Shadow Ridge's win bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Green Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Shadow Ridge got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Green Valley by a conclusive 16-6 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
