Basketball Recap: Carroll's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Carroll unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tri-County Cavaliers. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Carroll had strong showings from Jillian Salts, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, and Emily Justice, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Salts' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

It was another big night for Sara Zarse, who posted eight points and seven rebounds for Tri-County. Zarse has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 31 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Luck, who put up eight points and three steals.

Carroll's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Tri-County, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.

Carroll didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-35 loss against Culver Academies on the 14th. As for Tri-County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-28 win against Frontier on the 12th.
