Softball Recap: Reading Takes a Loss

Reading dropped their record down to 9-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 7-0 to the Taylor Yellowjackets. The game marked the first time this season in which the Blue Devils were not able to get on the board.

As for Taylor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Taylor's part, Ellie Stafford made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Stafford has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Prosser, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ava Harrison also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

While Reading had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
