Football Recap: Colin Mcgarvey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Wallenpaupack Area

Delaware Valley won the last time they faced Wallenpaupack Area and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors took down the Buckhorns 35-21. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Buckhorns are ranked 317th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Delaware Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colin McGarvey, who threw for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards. A healthy portion of McGarvey's aerial production (98 yards to be exact) went to Trey Newton, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Delaware Valley proved: they limited Wallenpaupack Area to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. Several Buckhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ed Kiesendahl, who rushed for 76 yards and one score, and also caught one TD. Kiesendahl was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss). Jake Rafferty was another key player, throwing for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Delaware Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Wallenpaupack Area, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
