Jon Stroup made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Tyrone let Bryden Parsons and Conner Zupon run wild. Parsons went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Zupon went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Parsons has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Kustenbauder, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Bald Eagle Area had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Sunday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Panthers.
Like Tyrone, Bald Eagle Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Teagun Runkle. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Runkle was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Graysen White, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Kaleb Irion was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Tyrone's record is now 9-7. As for Bald Eagle Area, their record now sits at 11-4.
Tyrone was able to grind out a solid win over Bald Eagle Area in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 4-1. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
