Baseball Recap: Houston Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Houston Academy waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by an 11-3 margin over the Ashford Yellowjackets. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ty Morris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Houston Academy is 2-1 when Morris posts three or more hits, but 5-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Bradley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Greer Collins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Houston Academy's record is now 7-9. As for Ashford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
