Bell and Lafayette are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. Bell will be playing at home against Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Bell easily dispatched Dixie County on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Bell fell just short of Madison County by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday.
Alaina Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Bell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jodi Waddle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Lafayette entered their tilt with Suwannee on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 6-4. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Khloe Crotts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clara Knight, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Lafayette lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Lafayette's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Bell, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Bell came up short against Lafayette when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 10-7. Will Bell have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
