Portal is 0-9 against Jenkins County since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Portal Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jenkins County War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Portal entered their tilt with McIntosh County Academy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Portal really took it to McIntosh County Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 27-0 win on the road. Portal pushed the score to 20-0 by the end of the third, a deficit McIntosh County Academy had little chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Elijah Coleman, who rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Coleman was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Jackson, who picked up 38 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Jenkins County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 28-7 margin over Emanuel County Institute.
Jenkins County had a senior duo take command as Christian Wilson rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries and Rob-travious Coney rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Coney hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Portal has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Jenkins County, their win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Portal came up short against Jenkins County when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 18-6. Will Portal have more luck at home instead of on the road?
