The Washington County Golden Hawks will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Josey Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Washington County suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Baldwin 87-59. While losing is never fun, Washington County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Baldwin is ranked 34th).
Washington County's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kamonta Durden, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Marquavion Cooper was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Josey, who are still winless after their 11th match. They fell 67-54 to Putnam County on Tuesday.
This is the second loss in a row for Washington County and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Josey, they bumped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Washington County against Josey in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 90-54 victory. With Washington County ahead 46-25 at the half, the match was all but over already.
