Two dominant players in Jeremy Chatman and Armonie Franklin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Shades Valley Mounties will face off against the Midfield Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Last Friday, Shades Valley came up short against Mountain Brook and fell 42-35. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shades Valley in their matchups with Mountain Brook: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Midfield waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-65 win over Fultondale. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Midfield has posted yet this season.
Midfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Franklin out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Franklin is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Riddle, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Shades Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Midfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Shades Valley came up short against Midfield in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 52-44. Thankfully for Shades Valley, Jamarkus Alexander (who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
