The Lugoff-Elgin Demons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 49-39 to Irmo. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lugoff-Elgin has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Lugoff-Elgin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nigel Chivers. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Mumford, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Irmo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Hopkins out in front who scored 11 points. Jaden Henderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Lugoff-Elgin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Irmo, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Richland Northeast the next time they take the court. Lugoff-Elgin will host Richland Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Irmo will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
