The Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers will head out to face off against the Penn Cambria Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Westmont Hilltop is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 15 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Westmont Hilltop came up short against Bishop McCort and fell 11-8. The matchup marked the Hilltoppers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Addy Dunbar was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dunbar was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Kelsie Muto made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Lamya Stevens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Penn Cambria, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Portage with a sharp 15-5 win on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Like Westmont Hilltop, Penn Cambria also got a great game from a two-way player: Alyse Rabatin. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rabatin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Farabaugh, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Cully, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Penn Cambria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Westmont Hilltop, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westmont Hilltop has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Penn Cambria struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
