On Thursday, the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars were out to avenge their 52-48 defeat to the West Central Trojans from their previous meeting last February, but they had no such luck. The contest between them was not particularly close, with McCook Central/Montrose falling 50-36. That's the fewest points they have scored all year.
This is the second loss in a row for the Fighting Cougars and nudges their record down to 11-8. West Central's victory brought them up to 6-15.
McCook Central/Montrose will square off against Sioux Valley Friday. Sioux Valley has averaged 77 points over the course of their past four games, so McCook Central/Montrose might be in for a challenge. As for West Central, they will face off against Chamberlain Friday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close matchup.
