Emily Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Adams was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isabelle Donnelly was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Bailey Moser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
New Oxford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as William Penn only posted an OBP of .357.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central York, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against Northern Lebanon by a score of 6-3 on Thursday.
Like New Oxford, Central York also got a great game from a two-way player: Elizabeth Ferrell. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Ferrell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Gable, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Central York's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for New Oxford, their record is now 9-4.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. New Oxford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Central York struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
New Oxford skirted past Central York 10-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonials since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
