Shoals extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They came up short against the Borden Braves, falling 20-4. If the Jug Rox were looking for revenge after losing 14-2 to the Braves when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Shoals saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbi Rollins, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
As for Borden, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs this season.
On Borden's side, Emma Hart was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Hart was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Chelbi Condon was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Eva Eversmann, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.
Looking ahead, Shoals will face off against Bloomfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something the Jug Rox will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Borden, they will challenge North Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
