Baseball Recap: Chandler Comes Up Short

Chandler dropped their record down to 17-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Tecumseh Savages by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since April 24, 2024.

As for Tecumseh, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

For Tecumseh's part, Zant Shirey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Shirey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tecumseh is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Shirey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tecumseh let Wyatt Dodgion and Caleb Sparks run wild. Dodgion went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Sparks went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Dodgion has posted since back in April of 2024.

Chandler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tecumseh, they will square off against Bishop McGuinness at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Savages are facing the Fighting Irish at the right time seeing as the Fighting Irish are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
