Despite the defeat, Ralston Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Santana Sabus en route to 19 points along with eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Evi Morwood, who posted seven points.
Sara Walker had a dynamite game for Arvada West, to rack up 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Walker has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Ferguson, who scored nine points.
Ralston Valley's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Arvada West, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Ralston Valley will head out to face off against Fruita Monument at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ralston Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Arvada West, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
