Baseball Recap: Bracken Christian Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Bracken Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bishop Reicher Catholic Cougars a 16-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Dalton Dresch made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Bracken Christian: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Burggraaf, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Cantu, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Bracken Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bracken Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. Bishop Reicher Catholic dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bracken Christian will venture away from home to face off against St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bracken Christian is facing St. Paul at the right time seeing as St. Paul is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bishop Reicher Catholic, they will challenge Valor Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
