The Howard Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 70-67 win over the Atholton Raiders on Thursday for which the team can thank Garner, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games he's played.
The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Reeb, who posted ten points and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024.
Atholton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Lyons, who to rack up 19 points. Thanks to that strong game, Lyons now owns an excellent 41.3% three-point shooting accuracy. Demarcus Lamot was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten boards.
Howard is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. Atholton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.
Howard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Atholton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-28 victory against Reservoir on the 24th.
