Softball Game Preview: Eastern Tech Mavericks vs. Hereford Bulls

Eastern Tech is a perfect 10-0 against Hereford since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mavericks will be playing at home against the Bulls at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eastern Tech's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Sparrows Point. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Meanwhile, Hereford waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with a 19-9 win.

Lauren Clement was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Roberts, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aly Wegrzyn, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Hereford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Eastern Tech's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Hereford, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.

Eastern Tech took their victory against Hereford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
