The Broadwater Academy Vikings just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Broadwater Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Broadwater Academy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Chincoteague: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Broadwater Academy blew Chincoteague out of the water with a 55-10 final score. The Vikings have beaten the Ponies the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Ponies has come to flipping the script.

It was another big night for Leah Smith, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miranda Smith, who had four points and eight boards.
Meanwhile, Denbigh Baptist Christian played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Atlantic Shores Christian, falling 48-26. The Minutemen were down 40-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Broadwater Academy will have to keep a close watch on Julia Kinney and Tori Carr, a pair of players who had a big impact on Denbigh Baptist Christian's prior game. Kinney earned 12 points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Carr scored eight points in addition to six steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Kinney is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.
Broadwater Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Broadwater Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Denbigh Baptist Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
