Softball Recap: Northern Lehigh Wins Going Away Against Lehighton

Northern Lehigh barely beat Lehighton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Indians 16-2 on Wednesday. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Northern Lehigh got a great performance from Addison Smith as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those hits were Smith's first of the season.

At the plate, Peyton Hoffman was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Emily Gad was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Northern Lehigh hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Northern Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Lehighton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Northern Lehigh has already played their next game (against Notre Dame), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lehighton, they will host Southern Lehigh at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
