The Bonanza Bengals will head out on the road to challenge the Legacy Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bonanza will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Legacy is ranked 30th).
Bonanza suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 49-27 defeat at the hands of Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bonanza has suffered against Valley since January 27, 2017.
Meanwhile, Legacy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They breezed by Amplus Academy on the road to the tune of 74-11. Legacy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 23 points or more this season.
Legacy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Laila Gines, who scored 17 points along with eight steals, and Deshaya Hart, who scored 22 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hart has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ajalee Williams, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Bonanza's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Legacy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9.
Bonanza was taken down by Legacy 84-29 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Bonanza avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
