The Wichita Falls Coyotes were the 24-14 winner over the Burkburnett Bulldogs when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Wichita Falls received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 44-28 to Burkburnett. Wichita Falls has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Jones, who rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 74 receiving yards. Zage Gravitt was another key contributor, throwing for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Wichita Falls' defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Jose Hinojosa and his two sacks.
Kyler Kirkland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Burkburnett, rushing for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Elijah Maldonado, who gained 165 total yards and two touchdowns.
Wichita Falls' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Burkburnett, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Springtown the next time they take the field. Burkburnett will host Springtown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Wichita Falls will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
