After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on North with a sharp 44-24 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-5.
Leading Bethune-Bowman to victory were Makiayah Johnson and Cha'Myri Boneparte. Johnson scored 13 points along with 5 assists, while Boneparte dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Boneparte hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Zy'Tavia Mack, who scored 2 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alayshia Mack, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. CoCo Charley was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Bethune-Bowman's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethune-Bowman will face off against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Orangeburg-Wilkinson will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for North, they will head out on the road to face off against Branchville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
