Tuscarawas Valley posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Claymont out 44-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Tuscarawas Valley.
Tuscarawas Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was John Leffler out in front who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Leffler has scored at least a third of Tuscarawas Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kuykendall, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Garaway fought the good fight in their overtime game against Sandy Valley on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 45-42. Garaway's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Tuscarawas Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Garaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Tuscarawas Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Garaway in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 34-29 victory.
