Fans got a thrill when Jesse Zelonka and Tre Tipton connected against Bethlehem Center. The connection was good for 83 yards, the longest such play in WPIAL A Eastern this season.
North Catholic added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Western Beaver, 24-0. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Trojans.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Apollo Ridge's Zelonka and Tipton have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Zelonka has thrown for 1,466 yards this season, while Tipton has 37 catches for 610 yards. Riverview's Keir Barber leads the league in rushing yards with 867.
The top two teams in WPIAL A Eastern will face off this week when first place North Catholic takes on second place Avonworth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Avonworth takes on North Catholic. The Antelopes have allowed 83 points this season, while Bob Ravenstahl's team has given up 116.
Avonworth scaled the state rankings by moving to 61 from 98 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Derek Johncour's team was able to move up by defeating Laurel 34-16.
