The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies are taking a road trip to face off against the Kankakee Valley Kougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Kouts came into their game last Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Boone Grove, falling 3-0.
Kouts was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-18, 25-18.

Kouts' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bella Birky, who had ten digs and two assists, and Erin Stewart, who had nine kills and eight digs. Birky is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Munster on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Kougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-20 in the first set.
Kankakee Valley started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-11.
This is the second loss in a row for Kankakee Valley and nudges their season record down to 14-11. As for Kouts, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
