After a string of three wins, Spooner's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 28-34 to Northwestern. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Spooner of the 0-35 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head.
The loss dropped Spooner's record to 4-3. The win bumped Northwestern's record up to 7-0.
Next week Spooner take on Cumberland at 7:00 PM. As for Northwestern, they will face off against Ladysmith. Both of those teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
