Mt. Rainier hasn't had much luck against Tahoma recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will head out to challenge the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Rainier has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mt. Rainier couldn't beat Auburn Riverside on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Rams lost 18-5 to the Ravens.
Mt. Rainier saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Young, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Mia Teplitsky also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Tahoma came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lancers a 19-0 shutout. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Alexa Ramirez and Sienna Shultz were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Ramirez struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Shultz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ramirez went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Shultz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Tahoma got a massive performance out of Kelsey Jones, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs Jones has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Hammington, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Tahoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .656. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Tahoma's record is now 6-2. As for Mt. Rainier, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Mt. Rainier hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Tahoma struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mt. Rainier suffered a grim 21-2 defeat to Tahoma in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
