Lumberton hadn't done well against Resurrection Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lumberton Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Resurrection Catholic Eagles 43-40. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Despite the loss, Resurrection Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Simeon Ballard dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds. Ballard is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Eric Fox, who posted eight points and three steals.

Lumberton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Resurrection Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Lumberton has already played their next contest, a 43-29 defeat against Sacred Heart on the 10th. As for Resurrection Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-45 loss against Enterprise on the 9th.
