The Suitland Rams won against the La Plata Warriors on Wednesday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Suitland greeted the New Year with with a 61-43 victory over La Plata. That's two games straight that Suitland has won by exactly 18 points.
Devonte Mobley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Suitland's points. Meshach Pannell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
La Plata lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dwayne Liggins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The match was Liggins' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Austin Ashley, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Suitland's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for La Plata, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Suitland will challenge Laurel at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. La Plata won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. Great Mills is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
