Section 3 Class B - West recap September 10, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westhill, who took down 69th ranked Chittenango, 21-20.
Homer's Jake Norton recorded the longest rushing play in Section 3 Class B - West this season in his game against Birdlebough last week. Norton scampered for 51 yards on the play and finished with 68 on the day as his team beat the Firebirds.
Birdlebough's dynamic duo of Billy Ostrander and Brock Maruscak proved tough for Homer to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ostrander threw for 80 yards and Maruscak had 80 yards receiving.
Chad Rowe's team's dynamic duo of Ostrander and Maruscak proved to be unstoppable against Gary Podsiedlik's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Maruscak was the best wideout in the league this week as the Firebirds fell to the Trojans.
Chris Brown was a passing and rushing force as Homer beat Birdlebough.
Ostrander put up the best numbers in passing as the Firebirds lost to the Trojans.
Brown was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 4 carries, he ran for 118 yards as Homer lost to Homer. Alec Bush also contributed to the rushing game with 94 yards on the ground.
Leading Section 3 Class B - West in both passing and receiving yards, the Firebirds' Ostrander and Maruscak have proven to be a lethal combination. Brown from the Trojans leads the league in rushing with 118 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Westhill takes on second place Marcellus.
Ostrander and Maruscak provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Homer. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
