Carmel hit Monte Vista Christian with a six-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Padres, falling 15-7. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Padres: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, North Monterey County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 26-11 to King City.
Julie Ortiz and Meiha Vargas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ortiz went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Vargas went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Samantha Scharton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Monte Vista Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for North Monterey County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
North Monterey County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monte Vista Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for North Monterey County, though, as they've been averaging 14.7 hits. Given Monte Vista Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Condors will need to find a way to close that gap.
