Jackson Cecil and Dawson Kamppi were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Cecil didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Kamppi struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. At bat, Cecil went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Kamppi went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double was Cecil's first of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Widmer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season. Drew Fye was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Madison Christian had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Genoa Christian Academy 11-5 last Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Reegan Bryan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Price, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Madison Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5.
