Baseball Recap: Sitka Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Sitka faced Petersburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolves put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Sitka got a great performance from Levi Hodges as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Hodges has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brett Ross was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryce Calhoun, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Sitka hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 16 consecutive games.

Sitka's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Petersburg, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

As of now, neither Sitka nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
