Sanger has won six straight games at home, while Bonham has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Sanger will welcome Bonham at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sanger had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Gainesville on Friday. Sanger was the clear victor by a 17-1 margin over Gainesville. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the match before.
Leala Kloewer was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Dalilah Millan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Tarryn Liechty was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
Sanger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gainesville only posted an OBP of .438.
Bonham never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Gainesville last Tuesday. They blew past the Leopards 17-1.
Alayna Laisy was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jewyll Hemby, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs.
Bonham is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. Sanger's victory bumped their record up to 13-5-4.
Bonham's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Sanger has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bonham, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Sanger keep running through batters, or will Bonham buck the trend?
Everything went Sanger's way against Bonham in their previous meeting on March 11th, as Sanger made off with a 12-2 win. Will Sanger repeat their success, or does Bonham has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
