Basketball Game Preview: Gibsonburg Golden Bears vs. Old Fort Stockaders

Gibsonburg hasn't had much luck against Old Fort recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Gibsonburg Golden Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Old Fort Stockaders at 7:00 p.m. Gibsonburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Gibsonburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-49 to New Riegel.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Aiden Morant, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Walby, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gibsonburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Old Fort's strategy against Danbury on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Old Fort blew Danbury out of the water with a 72-26 final score. The Stockaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 27 points or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Old Fort and bumps their season record up to 15-2. As for Gibsonburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Gibsonburg couldn't quite finish off Old Fort in their previous matchup back in January and fell 68-65. Can Gibsonburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
