After flying high against the Utica Redskins last Wednesday, the Licking Valley Panthers came back down to earth. Licking Valley fell 50-39 to Granville on Saturday. Licking Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Granville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Licking Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Hottinger. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hottinger has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Bowman, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Licking Valley's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-5. As for Granville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Licking Valley will be playing at home against Zanesville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Zanesville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for Granville, they will head out on the road to square off against Watkins Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
