The Damonte Ranch Mustangs came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Spanish Springs 74-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Damonte Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jiro Basabas, who scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jace Anderson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Spanish Springs still got an impressive performance from Travis Lee, who scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Hensley, who scored 13 points.
Damonte Ranch pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Spanish Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Damonte Ranch will face off against Bishop Manogue at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spanish Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Reno at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Reno is ranked 13th, while Spanish Springs is ranked 30th).
