After flying high against the Litchfield Purple Panthers last Thursday, the Gillespie Miners came back down to earth. Gillespie fell 65-58 to Jersey on Monday. Gillespie has struggled against Jersey recently, as their game on Monday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Tessa Crawford, who scored 28 points along with six steals for Jersey. The contest was Crawford's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Meredith Gray was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Gillespie's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Jersey, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gillespie will challenge Vandalia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vandalia is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Jersey, they will head out on the road to face off against Civic Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
