The Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings will face off against the Pocomoke Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cambridge-South Dorchester is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.
Last Monday, Cambridge-South Dorchester was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-39 to Seaford. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 103rd in Maryland, while the Bluejays are ranked tenth in Delaware).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Le'Asia Todd, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 40 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tejanae Ballin, who posted 14 points.
Meanwhile, Pocomoke played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 51-15 defeat at the hands of Parkside. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Cambridge-South Dorchester will have to keep a close watch on Donyae Washington and Danae Dennis, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pocomoke's prior game. Washington earned six points in addition to 20 rebounds and three steals, while Dennis had a point and 13 boards.
Even though they lost, Pocomoke smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.
Cambridge-South Dorchester's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points over those games. As for Pocomoke, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Cambridge-South Dorchester has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 36.9% of their three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Pocomoke struggles in that department as they've made 36.4% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Cambridge-South Dorchester against Pocomoke when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-30 win. Does Cambridge-South Dorchester have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pocomoke turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
